Summary |
Dr. Ye Wint Oo has been working as an Assistant Professor of physiology and anatomy at College of Dentistry, University of Science and Technology, Fujairah, (USTF) since August 2021. Before joining USTF, Dr. Oo worked as a post-doctoral research associate at Baylor College of Medicine, Texas, USA from 2020 to 2021. From 2017 to 2019, he worked as an Assistant Professor of Physiology in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Gulf Medical University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Human Physiology from the University of Newcastle, Australia in 2016. He completed his master’s degree in Physiology at Mahidol University, Thailand in 2009. Upon completion of master’s degree, he worked for a couple of years at endocrinology department, YLL school of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS) in Singapore. His research area includes clinical research (cardiovascular and metabolic diseases) and electrophysiology in particular, ryanodine receptor from both skeletal and cardiac muscle. He used the sophisticated experimental techniques in which single molecules are reconstituted into artificial lipid bilayers where the effects of drugs and other endogenous compounds are directly measured. He discovered that Calmodulin facilitates the action of two clinically important drugs (namely dantrolene and flecainide) that inhibit the ryanodine receptors. He has published many research articles in the journals of international repute and presented his research work in the international conferences in Australia, India, and the United States. |
