Based on a pre scheduled plan, A delegation from the Accreditation Council of Pharmacy Education in the United States of America (ACPE) had visited the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (COPHS) at the University of Science and Technology of Fujairah (USTF), as part of the field visit phase to follow up the compatibility of the work progress of the college with the international standards followed by the Council to ensure the quality of the educational system for educational institutions certified by it.
At the beginning of the visit, the delegation of the Council met His Excellency Prof. Ali Abu ElNour – Chancellor of University of Science and Technology of Fujairah - and Prof. Dr. Sumia Sir El Khatim - Acting Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. After that, the delegation started reviewing the academic plan of the college and the progress of the educational process, as well as the laboratory equipment in the college and the extent of its conformity with the standard specifications required by the Council. The Council also met with the members of the faculty members to familiarize themselves closely with their teaching and research plans. The Council delegation also selected a number of the college students from various levels to inquire about their views of the services provided by the university to college students, the efficiency of the teaching process, laboratory equipment and other university facilities.The Council also explored the students’ vision about the future of pharmacy education, and the required additions needed, and if they are aware of their next steps in college and beyond.
At the end of the visit that lasted for one day, the delegation expressed their satisfaction regarding the level of professionalism and the readiness of the college which matches with the standards set by the ACPE Council and followed by all ACPE-certified academic institutions.
