Dr. Shimaa Basha Participates in the 13th Regional Conference on Combating Intellectual Property Crimes in the Middle East and North Africa

Dubai, UAE – Dr. Shimaa Basha, an esteemed expert in intellectual property, participated in the 13th Regional Conference on Combating Intellectual Property Crimes in the Middle East and North Africa. The conference, organized by the Emirates Intellectual Property Association, took place in Dubai from February 20-21, 2024.
The conference delved into crucial topics related to intellectual property and innovation, including Metaverse and Artificial Intelligence, data analysis, adaptability, scalability, and sustainability. Among the key discussions were foresight in intellectual property, the experience of virtual reality education at the International College for Investigators in Intellectual Property Crimes, innovation and intellectual property, a vision towards innovation and creativity, preparing cross-border rescue suits, challenges and opportunities of artificial intelligence and intellectual property, distinguishing between original and counterfeit pieces, intellectual property, and the future, expanding the boundaries of law enforcement, and whether the violation of intellectual property rights is considered organized crime.
The conference highlighted significant developments and challenges in enforcing intellectual property laws, presenting new opportunities to combat intellectual property crimes. It showcased the efforts of the United Arab Emirates, emphasizing the adoption of modern technology and tools to facilitate legal control procedures. Additionally, the conference featured global best practices in protecting trademarks, intellectual classifications, and patents from violations and forgery.
Dr. Shimaa Basha a Faculty Member at University of Science and Technology of Fujairah actively contributed to the discourse, bringing her expertise to discussions on the evolving landscape of intellectual property and the advancements in combating related crimes. Her insights added valuable perspectives to the conference's mission of promoting knowledge exchange, collaboration, and the adoption of effective strategies in safeguarding intellectual property.
