Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim, Chancellor of the University of Fujairah, Meets with Faculty and Staff in Inaugural Gathering

His Excellency Dr. Suleiman Al Jassim, Chancellor of the University of Fujairah, expressed his deep appreciation for the efforts of the university’s academic and administrative staff, commending their pivotal role in shaping qualified generations who actively contribute to society’s development. This came during the first introductory meeting with faculty and administrative members, where he outlined his ambitious vision for the university’s development within its new structure and enhancing its status as a leading educational institution.
This transformation follows a decree issued by His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, on February 26, 2025, which mandated the merger of the former University of Science and Technology of Fujairah and the former University of Fujairah into a single entity under the name " University of Fujairah" As the only higher education institution in the emirate bearing its name, this step aims to strengthen its standing as a premier educational institution at both the local and regional levels.
In his address, Dr. Al Jassim highlighted his distinguished career spanning education, public service, economic development, and workforce advancement in the UAE. He reaffirmed his commitment to leveraging his extensive expertise to elevate the university’s academic standards, foster an environment encouraging innovation, scientific research, and academic collaboration, and enhance community engagement. These efforts, he emphasized, will ensure that students are well-prepared to navigate the rapidly evolving job market.
Dr. Al Jassim also underscored the importance of expanding the university’s student base in the coming years by fostering academic and professional partnerships with prestigious regional and international institutions. He emphasized the role of attracting international students, who enrich the educational experience and promote cultural exchange, thereby enhancing the university’s global reputation.
Furthermore, he highlighted the critical role that institutions and companies in Fujairah play in supporting the education sector. He stressed the need for collaboration between the university and public and private sectors to introduce modern and innovative educational programs to prepare highly skilled professionals who meet labor market demands and drive sustainable development in the emirate.
Dr. Al Jassim stated: “The University of Fujairah possesses immense potential to be among the leading educational institutions in the region. Through the collective efforts of our faculty members, students, and stakeholders, we will implement strategic initiatives that enhance academic excellence, foster community engagement, and elevate the quality of education to unprecedented levels.”
He also expressed his deep gratitude for the unwavering support provided by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah and Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, reaffirming his confidence in the university’s ability to achieve significant milestones that will solidify its position as a distinguished academic institution both locally and internationally.
