Fujairah Forensic Lab visit
The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at the University of Science and Technology of Fujairah organized a scientific visit for male and female students to the forensic medicine laboratory and crime scene at the Fujairah Police General Headquarters in two phases: the students on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, under the supervision of Prof. Sumia Sir Elkhatim and Dr. Srinivasan Ramamurthy .The female students on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 under the supervision of Dr. Babiker Al-Hajj and Mr. Nader Abu Mukhaimer.
During the visit, Her Excellency Captain Kholoud Hamad Al-Khaldi welcomed the college members and students and introduced the center and its effective role in society. She also clarified the role of pharmacists and their relationship to the nature of criminal examinations. Dr. Muhammad Al-Ghazali, forensic toxicology expert, in cooperation with Senior Assistant / Fatima Miftah Al-Mismari, continued the process of explaining and clarifying the nature of the examinations and the method of dealing with suspected samples by introducing the devices and methods of conducting the examinations.
During the visit, the students got acquainted with many devices such as GC-MS and V-Twin, in addition to the modern techniques used in analyzing samples of drug users of all kinds and examining cases of poisoning and cases of alcohol addiction.
Finally, Prof. Dr. Sumia Sir El-Khatim expressed her happiness and special thanks to all the employees in the criminal department for their effective role in maintaining public safety and preventing the circulation of narcotic substances through detection. Her Excellency explained that a sound mind is the basis for building the nation and society.
