International Conference on “Quality Measurement in Health Professions Education – Revisiting the Metrics

Assessment of learners and trainees must keep pace with the new evolving competencies, which are highly emphasized in all competency frameworks in all health professions education programs including medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, nursing, and others. The aim of the conference was to create an opportunity for health professionals’ educators, regulatory bodies, healthcare authorities, institutions. and public and private healthcare service providers to interact with experts in the fields of quality and assessment, share experiences, and how to introduce new assessment methods in their own context.
The conference reflected the collaboration among the national regulatory body represented by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA), Ministry of Education, UAE, DHA, AMEE the leading international Association supporting excellence in health professions education globally and Gulf Medical University.
The conference was inaugurated with a keynote speech by His Excellency Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Director General, Dubai Healthcare Authority (DHA) and was attended by 3000 delegates from different countries across the globe. There were more than 30 speakers, scholars, and leaders of innovations in health professions education, from 37 countries. COPHS/USTF was represented in the conference by the Dean, Professor Sumia Sir Elkhatem, Professor Yaser Al Worafi, Dr Babiker El-Haj and Dr Srinivasan Ramamurthy. (Dr Shihab El-Taher was absent for being in contact with a Covid-19 infected family member.)
