The Counseling and Happiness Center, in cooperation with the Office of Students’ Affairs at the University of Science and Technology of Fujairah held a workshop titled: Supporting students of determination and those with additional learning needs”. Dr. Mohamed Zaki, Special Needs Specialist at the Emirati Education Establishment, presented the workshop. The workshop started on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022 at 2:30p.m. at the Main Conference Hall. The workshop was attended by a large group of faculty members, administrative staff and students. Dr. Zaki presented the Federal Law no. 29 for year 2006 on the rights of persons with special needs in the U.A.E., amended by Federal law no. 14 for year 2009. He also presented the 2018 unified national classification of disabilities (people of determination) in the U.A.E.; the needs of students of determination (educational needs, needs during exams, aiding tools and devices, supporting services, and human resources); accommodating the university (campuses). At the end of the workshop, Dr. Zaki answered the participants’ questions. Participants expressed that they benefited from the presented information and the outstanding performance of the presenter.
