University of Science and Technology of Fujairah Hosts the 7th UAE-Fujairah Hackathon: Today’s Challenges Tomorrow’s Solutions

The University of Science and Technology of Fujairah (USTF) is proud to announce the successful hosting of the 7th annual UAE Hackathon, themed "Today's Challenges, Tomorrow's Solutions." This prestigious event, a hallmark of UAE Innovation Month, took place on February 28th and 29th, attracting over 400 participants, including students, entrepreneurs, startup owners, and professionals from various sectors.

Organized by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), the UAE Hackathon is a dynamic platform that brings together innovative minds from universities, schools, the government, and the private sector. The event aims to forge sustainable digital solutions aligned with the UAE's Digital Government Strategy 2025 and the Zero Government Bureaucracy program. This year's edition emphasized collaborative innovation to address current challenges and shape a resilient digital future.

The hackathon's two primary focuses were creating a customer-centric digital government and implementing Zero Government Bureaucracy (ZGB). These pillars resonate with the broader goals of the UAE Digital Government Strategy 2025, fostering federal and local government cooperation in pursuit of groundbreaking solutions.

University Chancellor, HE, Prof. Ali Abouelnour, expressed his pride in hosting the event for the seventh consecutive year, emphasizing its significance in strengthening strategic partnerships nationwide. He also highlighted the university's commitment to fostering national innovation and project initiatives.

The event commenced with welcoming remarks from HE Professor. Ali Abouelnour, USTF chancellor who appreciated the efforts of the (TDRA) and underscored the university's active role in organizing the event. The hackathon was graced by distinguished guests, including HE Mr Ali Mustafa, Director of the Finance Department of the Fujairah Government, HE Ms Amal Ismail, Director of the Hackathon Program, and HE Mr Yousef Al Kaabi, Director of the Marketing Department of the Fujairah E-Government.

Over two days, participants, divided into more than 45 teams from various universities and schools, engaged in brainstorming sessions under the guidance of university faculty and industry professionals. The event also featured specialized counselling halls for male and female participants, ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment for idea development.

The USTF takes pride in its students' historical success at the UAE Hackathon, including previous first-place victories. The university eagerly anticipates further triumphs in this year's edition, demonstrating its continuous commitment to innovation and excellence in the digital realm.
