The University of Science and Technology in Fujairah, under the leadership of His Excellency Prof. Dr. Ali Abouelnour, the University's Director, participated in the first ALECSO Forum for twinning Arab universities. The event was organized by the Arab Organization for Education, Culture, and Science, headquartered in the Republic of Tunisia, from October 17th to 18th, 2023. The forum saw the participation of thirty-seven Arab universities, each represented by their esteemed presidents from nineteen Arab countries. Additionally, various Arab and international institutions with a keen interest in higher education and scientific research were present, including Al-Fanar Media, the Union for the Mediterranean, and Human Restart International.

The primary objective of the first ALECSO Forum for twinning Arab universities is to achieve tangible and scientific contributions from ALECSO, Arab universities, and related Arab and international entities. This aims to fulfill the overarching goals of the Arab Strategy for Scientific Research, Technology, and Innovation, a mission entrusted by the twenty-eighth Arab summit to ALECSO. This is to be achieved through the practical and operational application of the strategy's mechanisms. The forum also aims to support the realized initiatives of participating Arab universities for the strategy's advancement. It further seeks to foster greater collaboration and cooperation between ALECSO, Arab universities, and academic and research institutions, both Arab and international, in service of shared objectives and sustainable development.

The forum's proceedings were inaugurated under the patronage of His Excellency Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar El Akram, the Director-General of the Arab Organization for Education, Culture, and Science. The opening ceremony was attended by the esteemed Ambassadors of Arab countries in the Republic of Tunisia. The ceremony included the honoring of His Excellency Prof. Dr. Ali Abouelnour, the Director of the University of Science and Technology in Fujairah, and the presidents of the participating universities. This was followed by the signing of memoranda of understanding between the Arab Organization for Education, Culture, and Science, represented by His Excellency the Director-General, and Al-Fanar Media, as well as Human Restart International. This joint effort aims to enhance scientific culture and prepare graduates of Arab universities for the global job market.

During the conference, Prof. Dr. Ali Abuelnour delivered a presentation on the University of Science and Technology in Fujairah, outlining its vision, mission, and the distinguished achievements made under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, the Crown Prince of Fujairah and Chairman of its Board of Trustees. The presentation covered various aspects including excellence in education, learning, scientific research, community partnership, student life, and university services. Discussions were also held regarding potential areas of cooperation with other Arab universities and international institutions, as well as ALECSO's initiatives in establishing the ALECSO Fund for Scientific Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship, the ALECSO Science Gateway, and the ALECSO program for the Arab Scientific Visitor.

This forum resulted in the signing of twinship memoranda of understanding between the University of Science and Technology in Fujairah and the Technical University of Applied Sciences in the Sultanate of Oman, as well as between the University of Science and Technology in Fujairah and both the University of Jordan and the Al-Quds University for Medical Sciences in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Additionally, a twinning memorandum of understanding was signed between the University of Science and Technology in Fujairah and both the Virtual University of Tunisia and the University of Gabes in the Republic of Tunisia. These memoranda aim to facilitate academic and research visits between the University of Science and Technology in Fujairah and these respective universities, with ALECSO exerting its best efforts to ensure the success of these memoranda in collaboration with the participating Arab universities, ultimately achieving common goals.
