USTF hosts the first scientific forum on “Innovation and Artificial Intelligence: A Future Vision for Social Work and Its Challenges”

The first scientific forum of the Department of Sociology and Social Work at Fujairah University of Science and Technology was held on Wednesday, 12/11/2024, in partnership with the Social Workers Association, under the title "Innovation and Artificial Intelligence: A Future Vision for Social Work and its Challenges".
The event opened with the national anthem, followed by welcoming remarks from His Excellency Prof. Dr. Ali Abu Al-Nour, President of the University, and His Excellency Dr. Ruqayya Al-Raisi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Social Workers Association, who emphasized the importance of the partnership between the university and the association in developing social work in line with technological developments.
The forum's work was divided into two scientific sessions, during which the speakers reviewed various aspects of the uses of artificial intelligence in the social and human sciences, and its impact on the quality of social work.
First Scientific Session: Artificial Intelligence and the Challenges of its Use in Social Sciences
The session was moderated by Dr. Mohammed bin Jarash Al-Suwaidi, a member of the Board of Directors of the Sociologists Association, and included three scientific interventions:
"Ethics of Artificial Intelligence and Society" presented by Dr. Faisal Al-Mutalqa, Associate Professor of Sociology and Dean of the College of Humanities and Sciences.
"The Culture of Using Artificial Intelligence among Students of Social Sciences and Humanities" presented by Prof. Aisha Al-Tayeb and Ms. Aisha Al-Kindi from the Department of Sociology and Social Service.
"Sociology of Artificial Intelligence: The Impact of Smart Technology on Social Relations and Cultural Transformations" presented by Dr. Al-Sayed Abdul Rahman, Associate Professor of Sociology.
Second Scientific Session: Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Improving the Quality of Social Work Chaired by Dr. Asmaa Al-Durmaki, Secretary of the Sociologists Association, and included three interventions:
"Innovation and Quality of Social Services" presented by Prof. Ramadan Ismail, Professor of Social Service.
"Professional Practice of Social Service in Light of Digital Transformation" presented by Dr. Asmaa Ahmed, Assistant Professor of Social Service.
"Using Artificial Intelligence Tools to Enhance the Efficiency of Social Work" presented by Dr. Hussein Ibrahim Abu Al-Qasim, Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Technology.
Discussions and Recommendations
The forum witnessed intense interaction from the attendees, as the discussion revolved around the opportunities and challenges posed by artificial intelligence for social work. The forum concluded with important recommendations, including:
Holding the forum periodically. Introducing a professional diploma specializing in the uses of artificial intelligence in the social sciences. Establishing a research award in this field. Enhancing the publication of research related to artificial intelligence in the "Social Affairs" magazine. Including interventions on innovation and artificial intelligence in the upcoming Sharjah Book Fair. At the end of the forum, certificates of attendance and appreciation shields were distributed, emphasizing the continuation of joint efforts to develop social work in line with future developments.
