USTF students, the university team achieved first place at the country level in the Youth Competition for Sustainability

In a new achievement added to the records of the achievements of USTF students, the university team achieved first place at the country level in the Youth Competition for Sustainability, which comes as a result of joint cooperation between the University's Office of Events and both the Shell International Energy Corporation and the Emirates Injaz Corporation.

The students’ research journey began in September 2021 when the University’s Office of Events announced the competition and 5 teams were formed to compete in the areas of innovation and business. All teams, based on what was agreed upon between the USTF Office of Events and Injaz, received intensive weekly training at the hands of McKinsey and Co. Global Training and Development experts, in coordination with Mr. Tarek Shahin - Supervisor of the Office of Events, with the support of Dr. Youmna Shaker - Assistant Professor at the College of Engineering and Technology.

In addition to the university teams, a large number of teams from various universities participated in that research competition, which lasted for six months and culminated on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, with the university team winning first place at the country level with its research project represented in storing the excess energy coming from solar panels in a sandy medium placed in an underground insulator.

His Excellency Prof. Ali Abou El-Nour – USTF Chancellor – congratulated the members of the winning team; Suhair Mahmoud, Raghad Melhem, Muhammad Nassif, Maram Hossam, Maha Khamis, Iman Mustafa, Salsabil Al-Ghamry, in addition to the graduate Shahed Nassif.

His Excellency also praised the spirit of cooperation between the team and their efforts to integrate the various sciences they study from the various disciplines of the university, which contributed to the success of their research project.
