 World Mental Health Day Celebration

The University of Science and Technology of Fujairah participated in the celebration of World Mental Health Day, in order to achieve its comprehensive vision, which urges the involvement of its members in national and international events and to strengthen the bonds of fruitful and constructive cooperation with leading universities and institutions in the United Arab Emirates.

On this occasion, the Department of Psychology at the College of Humanities and Sciences at the university, the Counseling and Happiness Center, and with the participation of students’ affairs, organized the World Mental Health Day Celebration under the slogan “Make mental health & well-being for all a global priority".” The program started with National Anthem and then the Holy Qur’an began. Al-Yamahi and student Aya Al-Hindasi gave a speech for the event; His Excellency the Rector of the University, Prof. Dr. Ali Abu Al-Nour, gave a speech on this occasion; presenting a film on the reality of mental health in the UAE; Then a word for the program coordinator Dr. Shima Basha, and Dr. Sameh Khamis gave a speech by the department members, and a video prepared and filmed by the students was presented, “Words on Mental Health Day”; After that, lectures began, the first of which was given by Prof. Marei Ahmed - Ajman University, entitled "Sports Practice and Positive Psychology Your Way to Mental Health"; To learn more about the factors affecting our mental health, Prof. Asmaa Harhash, Professor at the Faculty of Oral and Dentistry college, presented a lecture entitled “Oral health and beauty as a mirror of mental health”; Then we learned more about how to protect ourselves from mental disorders through the distinguished presentation of Prof. Dr. Sayed Al-Wakeel, professor in the department; A video presentation of the services of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, Kalba branch; Then the students launched their campaign "Support" We Are Closer to You - Friends of the Counseling and Happiness Center in the Department of Psychology; Then, the lectures concluded on the topic of obesity and mental health risks, presented by Mr. Muhammad Khalil, a nutritionist. This was followed by a prize-withdrawing session for the attendees, prepared and implemented by the students of the department, and the participants and the community bodies participating in the event were honored. Finally, the event concluded with the distinguished speaker of the event’s master, Amna Al Kindi, a student in the Department of Psychology. This was followed by a presentation of the pillars of the participating parties; Where Dr. Nutrition participated in measuring weight and body fat and giving advice to attendees; And the corner of the Ministry of Health to make PCR to all attendees and the participation of the nutritionist A. Mona Al Balushi and brochures on proper nutrition. The Counseling and Happiness Center participated in a corner and presented brochures about the center and its services, then the corner of colors and their reflection on mental health, the corner of healthy foods that reduce stress and anxiety, and the corner of personality analysis by knowing how a person thinks; The event was attended by the participating community parties,. Mr. Moeen Abbad Ali, a family and educational advisor, Dr. Mohamed Attia Zaki, Emirates Education Foundation, Director of Sharjah Ladies Club, Kalba Branch, Ms. Moza. Dr. Asma Al Darmaki, Director of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, Kalba Branch, Mr. Abdullah Muhammad Al Dhanhani, Director of the Fujairah Charitable Society, Mr. Haitham Al Omar, Director of Basma Amal Center for Rehabilitation and Training, Dr. Nutrition - Mr. Ahmed Mumtaz Kamel, and the attendees expressed their happiness with the event. On the extent to which they benefited from the lectures and the distinguished students’ Corners; the event concluded at three o’clock in the evening.
