The University of Science and Technology in Fujairah celebrated the fifty-first anniversary of the National Day of the United Arab Emirates in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi. The university's celebrations highlighted the rich heritage, culture, and arts of the United Arab Emirates, emphasizing the diligent work that has been and continues to be invested in building the nation based on principles of love, peace, and noble tolerance. These principles have enabled the country to embrace people from all over the world, achieving rapid progress that has made the UAE a focal point and a model among nations, leading in advancement and development.
Continuing its path of excellence, Professor Dr. Ali Abu Al-Nour, the university's director, noted in his speech during the celebrations the university's distinction with its accredited programs that meet current and future labor market needs. He also highlighted the impactful research, community partnerships, and modern infrastructure that enables the university to provide services to its members and students according to the highest standards. He commended the university's resilience in facing challenges during the past pandemic period, continuing to achieve its vision and mission.
The director of the university also pointed out recent achievements, including the accreditation of the Master of Business Administration program as the only postgraduate program currently in the Emirate of Fujairah. Additionally, the university was accredited as a testing center for Emirates Standards and Metrology Authority, and it became an international training center for the American Heart Association. The achievements of the university's students were highlighted as practical evidence of the university fulfilling its mission to produce graduates with creative minds, high levels of professional skills, and social responsibility to contribute to the sustainable development of the country, region, and world.
As examples of student achievements, the mention was made of the selection of student Sara Al Yemahi as a representative of the UAE delegation to the Global Climate Change Summit. A team of university students also secured the first place in the Sustainability Competition at Expo 2020. Another team won the first place in the Student Scientific Research Competition at the regional meeting held in Dubai in 2022. Additionally, student Aliya Abdul Rahim won the first place in the Dofaat Conference in Dubai in 2022, and the first place in the Artificial Intelligence Applications Competition. Student Amina Khalafan secured the first place at the national level in the Digital Citizenship Competition, as well as the first place in the competition at the state and Arab levels in the Out-of-the-Box Competition. Finally, student Sharifa Farhan received the second-place award at the Sharjah International Book Fair for her novel.
The university's celebration events and accompanying exhibitions were the result of thoughtful and creative efforts from the university's students and members of the academic and administrative faculties. They expressed their sincere desire to actively participate in the National Day celebrations, bringing joy to the university's members and guests during this cherished anniversary.
