• Conduct surveys for obtaining students’ feedback on services and activities.

• Conduct surveys to measure satisfaction of faculty, staff, and students regarding services and take actions to enhance the services based on feedback and findings of surveys results.

• The ERT members visited USTF for RIL noticed the low satisfaction rates of USTF employees and asked for remedial action. In this important seminar Prof. El Wakeel, based on long and excellent experience, will take to us about the design, analyses, and application of faculty, staff, and students satisfaction surveys, and the possible mechanisms for enhancing the survey results.

Summary

• Stakeholders are those persons who have an interest in the higher education. The primary stakeholders include students, faculty, staff, and the management of the educational institute. Other stakeholders are government, professional bodies, employers, parents, non-teaching staff, and alumni.

• USTF is planning to involve all the above stakeholders in revision and update of its vision, mission, core values and strategic plan for the period 2023-2028. The process has already started and will take a few months to finish, before the end of the current strategic plan 2018-2023.

• Prof. Tamer Hassan, Dean of the College of Dentistry, is the chair of the Focus Group, members of USTF’s Strategic Planning Committee (SPC), in charge of leading the process, trough linking of the stakeholders to the SPC, till achievement of this task, which he will be addressing in his FDP seminar.

Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT)

Summary

• An Australian Scientist described GPT as one of the most interesting and important AI systems ever produced. This system uses deep learning to produce human-like text and is trained, using generative pre-training, to predict what is the next token is based on previous tokens. The OpenAI have introduced ChatGPT, which is trained to interacts in a conversational way. The dialogue format makes it possible for ChatGPT to answer follow-up questions, admit its mistakes, challenge incorrect premises, and reject inappropriate requests. Dr. Nabeel, College of Dentistry, shall present the Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) potentials for USTF’s faculty and teaching assistants.

• Students’ engagement throughout learning environment, will ensure that both CLOs and PLOs will be achieved in the best possible way. The following steps are implemented to ensure the full engagement of the students in USTF learning environment: ▪ Prepare students for learning experience: Providing students with manuals, video, and tour on the Moodle LMS and its different features and functions and showing them how to find materials, assignments, and assessments, and how to effectively communicate with faculty and classmates using this LMS. ▪ Describe CLOs to the students: Telling students what they will be able to do after taking of the course not only what information the curriculum contains. Obtain students’ academic evaluations: Students must fill the questionnaires uploaded, by the OIPE on the Moodle LMS, regarding the assessments of the course, instructor, academic advisors, CLOs. The instructors should make use of the assessment results for improvement of course delivery and attainment of the CLOs in the next course offering. ▪ Obtain Regular feedback from students about their satisfaction with course delivery: Results of these surveys are distributed to faculty to improve their course delivery and to maximize students’ satisfaction. Ensure efficient role of students in the learning activities: Provide opportunities for student to student and student to instructor activities in class, more than just listening to lectures and taking tests. Group and individual activities that require students to analyze ideas and issues, express themselves in meaningful ways, compare their experiences with others and reflect on their achievements.

• Academic advisor is the most important person in students’ lives after their parents. • USTF colleges assign students’ academic advisors once they join the University. The academic advisors are well-trained faculty members, who are fully aware with the study plans of the academic program students are enrolled in. • Turnitin is a plagiarism checking tool that generates a Similarity Reports which provide a summary of matching or highly similar text found in the submitted document. This user manual provides the guidance to create Turnitin assignment in MOODLE, generate similarity report and use it to make final judgment regarding plagiarism.

• Based on his experience in application of Turnitin in evaluation of graduation projects, Dr. Srinivasan will present the best practices in implementing Turnitin in assessing the similarity index of graduation projects and assignments with higher weightage.
